Climate change knows no borders. It exacerbates conflict, deepens inequality, and degrades the ecological systems on which all life depends. Yet governance structures inherited from historical power arrangements have produced systems where nature itself has no voice, no standing, and no protection. A silent casualty of every war, every treaty, every border drawn without its consent—and where communities are divided by borders that ecosystems do not recognise.
What if ecological identity—grounded in shared stewardship of lands, watersheds, forests, and oceans—could unite communities across the divides that define our geopolitics? What if we moved beyond oppositional identities and ownership toward belonging, transcending national sovereignty through ecological sovereignty?

Each identity lens can be deeply explored, co-created and prototyped via an appropriate method. For example, biological identity could be prototyped as a hydrological isotope kit that determines where the water in our bodies comes from at a given point in time, added to a global digital installation showing one's water kin. Language could be an installation of sounds and frequencies across human, Nature and interspecies — transcending words and meaning, in the same way that some indigenous communities construct language from the frequencies of words. Interspecies Communicators (a form of ancient telepathy pre-dating language) could be captured as brainwave frequencies and a data sculpture.
